World No.1 Judd Trump eliminated by Matthew Stevens at 5-3 in Haikou
World No. one Judd Trump was eliminated from Snooker Haikou World Open 2013 on Friday, losing to Matthew Stevens 5-3.
Trump was in very good form in the first two round of Haikou Open as he only lost one frame in two matches. But in the quarter finals, he was not match of Stevens who beat David Gilbert and Shaun Murphy in the first two rounds.
At the beginning of the first session, Trump found his good touches quickly, getting one 82 points shot to win the first frame. But in the next three frames, Trump made so many mistakes, leaving his opponent to pull ahead 3-1.
After the half time break, Trump enjoyed a smooth start, scoring 85 points with one hit to win the fifth frame, and in the sixth frame he capitalized one mistake by Stevens to tie the score at 3-3. However, in the last two frames, Stevens left no chance to Trump again, with on 79 points hit, Stevens won the eighth frame to get the victory by 5-3 on aggregate.
In another match, Mark Selby faild to advance to semi final by losing 5-3 against Neil Robertson. In the semi finals, Robertson will play Stevens on Saturday.
