Controversy sparked after Sanya plans to limit residential water usage
Sanya citizens and netizens showed great doubt over the rationality of the water quota system which will limit residential water usage to 233 liters for each resident every day.
Netizens showed that the water offered is too less to meet the daily water consumption. However, some expressed understanding for this water quota system made by the Sanya government. “If we don’t waste water, the amount of water proposed is relatively sufficient.” said a netizen.
“We have to keep an eye on the water meter because higher prices will be requested for additional water. It will affect the quality of our life.” said a citizen. Most citizens showed great concern over the inconvenience caused by the water quota system.
The Sanya government has explained that the amount of water offered is based on investigation results from experts and it is higher than the provincial average. The water quota system is to be used only when encountered with a water shortage, according to the report
