Sanya to limit residential water usage to 233 liters per person per day
The Sanya government plans to issue a water quota system for urban residents to 233 liters of water for each resident every day. In addition, higher prices will be requested for the additional water, reports Xinhuanet.com.
The water quota system aims to solve the problem between the current situation that the daily water consumption of Sanya’s per urban resident is higher than the national average and the fact that the average water resources available for each urban resident is lower than national average.
Though Sanya is located in a coastal area, it’s still lacking fresh water resources due to water waste and the imbalance of rainfall distribution, according to the report.
The specific operating scheme is under further improvement at present and will be launched after completion.
