Man in Haikou mistaken for thief after estranged wife sells his car
A man in Haikou, Hainan province, was mistaken for a thief while driving his car, unaware that his estranged wife had sold it without telling him.
The man, surnamed Lin, unexpectedly ran across his car, which he had not seen for a month after his wife drove off in it following a marital spat.
However, a man who claimed to have purchased the car from Lin's wife for 40,000 yuan ($6,013) demanded that Lin return the car or refund his money.
Police said Lin had not committed theft because the car had not been legally sold and Lin was still in possession of the car's registration documents.
