Botswana’s Emma Wareus took second position in this year’s Miss World competition held in Sanya, China. She came next to Miss America, 18-year-old Alexandria Mills who took the mantle. 
 
The African queen was first Runners up alongside second Runner up Adriana Vasini of Venezuela who came third.

A proud Botswana TV reported among the Top 25 were several other African contestants including Miss Kenya, Miss South Africa and Miss Namibia.

The beauties have all spent the last couple of weeks in Sanya and taken part in various mini-competitions including the Miss World Sportswoman and Miss World Top Model’ events.

Miss Kenya, Natasha Metto won the ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ competition for her Miss Kenya project. She is currently working with Miss Kenya 2005 to create awareness to help treat the jigger worm epidemic in Kenya.

Though the Nigerian representative, Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2010′ Fiona Afoma Amuzie did not win the competition, her country was well-represented as Miss World 2010 Agbani Darego was one of the judges.

Africa once again has become a global icon with Wareus’ position after South Africa’s hosting the World Cup 2010.
