300-metre-long crack appears at Longlou Mountain in Sanya
A 300-metre long, 20-centimetre wide and 1.8-metre deep crack was found at Longlou Mountain in Sanya, reports hinews.cn.
In the afternoon of Oct 27th, the reporter went to Longlou Mountain in the Haitang Bay area of Sanya finding that the inhabitants at the bottom of the mountain have already been transferred to safe places. Only a few orchard workers decided to stay on the mountain taking care of the orchard.
The big crack has attracted the relevant departments’ high attention. They will invite geological experts to make an on-site geological survey and offer a safe place for the inhabitants there.
Before the big crack’s existence, a large-scale cemetery project invested by Sanya municipal government began contruction at Longlou Mountain. They have suspended the construction at present.
It might be caused by the heavy rain that previously occured, but the real cause of the big crack is still under investigation.
