Miss Ireland Emma Waldron
 
Miss Ireland Emma Waldron has secured a spot in Saturday’s Miss World finals in China after taking the title of Miss World Talent 2010.
 
The Waterford beauty queen (21) showed off her musical talent by playing the violin at the contest in Sanya, China, yesterday.
 
Emma wowed the judges by performing a medley of three songs which included An Chualainn, a Chinese piece called Missing Homeland and an Irish reel.
 
The ambitious student even attempted to speak a few words of Chinese while on stage for her act.
 
As a result, Emma has been fast-tracked into the final 25, putting her in the running to follow in former Miss World Rosanna Davison’s footsteps.
 
The daughter of singer Chris de Burgh was the first Irish beauty ever to win the international beauty pageant when she took the title in 2003.
 
And now Emma is hoping she will have what it takes to be the second winner from the Emerald Isle when she takes to the stage next weekend.
 
"I’m absolutely over the moon," she told the Herald. "The standard was so high this year and I am so happy I won Miss World Talent. My violin teacher, Gillian Williams, will be thrilled.
 
"The atmosphere in the theatre was electric and all the girls were cheering us on. It’s really hitting me now how much I’m going to miss them all.
 
"I’m in the top 25 now in the Miss World Final. Myself and Miss Northern Ireland are both in the final."
 
Emma’s parents have flown to Asia to cheer on their daughter.
