Li Lei, arrested in Sanya, sentenced to death for killing 6 family members
Li Lei stabbed his parents, two sons, wife and sister to death on November 23, 2009, at their home in Beijing’s Daxing District. Li’s sons were aged one and six-years old.
Li told police he had been annoyed by his family, including his parents, sister and wife, who expected too much from him, after he was arrested in November last year in Sanya, a renowned scenic spot on China’s southernmost island province of Hainan.
The convicted 30-year-old was also deprived of political rights for life, the Beijing No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court ruled Friday.
Li was referred to prosecutors on murder charges in July after psychiatric assessments proved him competent to accept criminal responsibility.
Li did not seek to defend himself in Friday’s court hearing. But, he told police earlier that he did not regret killing the people, except for his two sons.
Li did not lodge an appeal Friday.
