Torrential rains have wreaked havoc in regional areas of Sanya, Hainan province from 1st October. Economic losses caused by the rain were estimated at over 100 million yuan by 7th October, reports www.hinews.cn.

Latest statistics showed that total amount of direct economic losses were at about 105.4 million yuan, which included 50 million yuan in husbandry, 62.3 million yuan in agriculture and 25.6 million yuan in water conservancy facilities.

Meanwhile, economic losses in manufacture, horticulture, electric power, transportation and tourism had reached 17.5 million yuan.

Accordingly, more than 4,850 people had been evacuated after about 61,500 villagers were seriously affected by heavy rainfall from 6 towns in Sanya.
 
Sanya Meteorological Bureau forecasts that Sanya will be faced with more persisted torrential rainfall on Friday and Saturday.
