Sanya’s tourism industry suffers heavy losses due to weather
The 5 day long rainstorm in Sanya during the National Day holiday caused heavy losses to the Sanya tourism industry. The tourist flow of main attractions declined sharply, reports Xinhuanet Thursday.
On Oct 5th, visitor numbers of two main attractions in Sanya were 19,400 and 13,800 respectively, while on Oct 6th, visitors declined sharply to 14,300 and 9,400.
According to the Hainan Weather Forecast Bureau, though the rainstorm finally stopped, the rainy weather will continue to the end of the golden week in China.
“The biggest wish for my child is to swim in the sea in Sanya, but the rainstorm won’t allow us to do that these days”, said Mrs Xu, who came to Sanya for sightseeing five days ago.
Due to the traffic control and closure of expressways caused by the torrential rain, visitors’ enthusiasm for sightseeing was reduced greatly, and the tourism industry in Sanya is suffering heavy losses.
