Flooded roads to Yalong Bay from the airport in Sanya are now accessible

 

From 1st October, continuous torrential rains brought a rainfall of 300mm to Sanya, which exceeded Sanya’s flood storage capacity, and led to many waterloged roads and streets in Sanya.

Roads from Sanya Phoenix International Airport to Yalong Bay and many parts of Sanya city area are locked down. Some streets are filled with waist high flood water.

In the afternoon of 4th October, Yao Lei, the officer of the municipal headquarters of three controls and deputy mayor of Sanya City held a meeting with the Sanya Communication Bureau, Sanya Highway Bureau, and Sanya Traffic Security Bureau. At the meeting, Yao Lei ask them to work out plans to optimize the drainage system, and he pointed out that the technical audit of flood storage capacity should be taken before the construction of new designed roads and bridges in the future.
