Kongming lanterns may cause hidden dangers of fire
 
The Sanya government has announced  restrictions on fireworks and a total ban on sales and release of Kongming lanterns, a traditional sky lantern to pray for blessings or celebrate festivals in China, reports sanya.hinews.cn.
 
Tons of tourists are coming to Sanya each year. The careless use of fireworks in scenic spots has led to some serious accidents in the past, the government said.
 
Fireworks ban has been a controversial issue for years. The governem had collected opinions from all sectors of society to ensure the most objective decision.
 
According to the regulations, Kongming lanterns will be banned permanently in densely-populated places and scenic spots in Sanya. Fireworks can only be set off in certain areas and times on public holidays including New Year’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Spring Festival, Middle Autumn Day and National Day.
