Green algae invades Sanya’s Dadonghai Beach
A carpet of green algae invaded Dadonghai Beach at the Hainan Island resort of Sanya on August 4, 2010, sanya.hinews.cn reported.
On the morning of 4th August, officers with the Sanya Marine Environmental Monitoring Station found the Dadonghai Beach was covered with 3cm thick green algae and the sea near the beach had also turned dark green.
As of 5th August, the sanitation workers had already cleared up 5 truckloads of green algae.
According to the Sanya Marine Environmental Monitoring Station, the recent weather condition is suitable for the reproduction of the green algae. However, these green algae are nonpoisonous according to analysis.
