2009 Sanya International Rainforest Challenge in Hainan, China
 
Kota Kinabalu: Sabahan participants are all set to face the big challenge at the Sanya International Rainforest Challenge in Hainan, China.
 
The event, which is happening from August 18-24, this year, will see the 1 Malaysia Sabah Team eagerly competing with other Malaysian and international off-roaders, as their machines have been fitted with all the necessary equipment to take them through the challenging terrain.
 
Leading the 1 Malaysia Sabah Team will be manager, Daniel Liew, who is no stranger to this event.
 
He competed in last year’s challenge and knows exactly what sort of challenge awaits his team when they arrive.
 
Liew and his team will have two vehicles. Lo Fui Min and Wong Chee Pin should have little difficulty navigating through the all weather terrain in their Toyota HJ70 Land Cruiser, which is fitted with a 15B turbo.
 
Azrey Ramlee together with Jaslihan Haney who will be in another Toyota vehicle that is powered by a 1JZ engine, are also just as ready to face the challenge.
 
Another arm in the team is Syamrin Azman, who will assist the others as a supporting member.
 
The two heavily modified machines are equipped with PTO winches and fitted with axles that are powered by dual purpose lockers both in the front ad rear wheels to provide extra strength when facing tough situations.
 
According to Liew, his members are high in spirit and are looking forward to the event, as this will be their first time taking part in such an international challenge.
 
Both drivers and co-drivers are excited about unleashing their expertise and show off their skills.
 
A total of 14 foreign and 20 local vehicles are set to face of in the challenge.
