Sanya to reach 71% of forest coverage rate by 2020
The plan, called "Overall Planning of Sanya’s Forest Land Protection and Forest Resource Management System", puts forward forestry development goals in the next 10 years.
At the end of 2020, the city will maintain a forest coverage rate of over 71%. The ratio of forest land use will be maintained at 98%, and the ecological forest area in the city will reach 70,985 hectares, according to the plan.
It is reported that the planning period is from 2009 to 2020, and is involving a total area of 191,067 hectares of land.
The plan highlights the scientific protection and rational use of forest resources, and also expresses the concepts of "environment friendly, resource-saving" and the coordinated development of ecology, economy and society.
The Forest Resource Management System uses computer technology, GIS and database technology to provide users with a practical and efficient forest resource management information platform.
