To help boost the local tourism industry in Wenchang City, construction on the tourism road linking Changsa Town and Puqian Town (also called Changpu tourism road) is underway and is expected to open at the end of 2017.
 
The new road is nearly 50 kilometers in length with a designated vehicle speed of 80 km per hour. The road links up Puqian Ancient Town, Dongjiao Coconut Plantation, Song Qingling Family Ancestral Residence, Wenchang Space Theme Park, as well as a number of popular tourist attractions.
 
The whole project involves a total investment of 1.9 billion yuan.
 
Upon its completion, the road is expected to greatly improve the transport conditions in northeast Hainan, and provide easy access for tourists to Haikou from Wechang’s east coastline.
