The construction of the terminal building at Qionghai Boao Airport officially started recently. The new terminal is expected to be completed by the end of August 2016.

The new terminal building will have a total construction area of 9,000 square meters. Construction is currently on schedule.

Boao Airport is located at Zhongyuan Town, 12 km away from Qionghai downtown and 15 km from the permanent venue of BFA Headquarters.

Construction on the airport started in March this year. The airport will cost nearly 1.127 billion yuan and take about two years to complete. The airport will feature a runway of 2,600 meters in length and 45 meters in width, as well as a terminal building covering 9,000 square meters and 26 parking aprons.

When the project is completed, the airport will be able to accommodate passenger aircraft such as the Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320, as well as business jet and private aircraft. It is designed to handle 480,000 passengers, 4,950 aircraft movements, and 1,440 tonnes of cargo and mail per year by 2020.
