Hainan motorist builds his own futuristic supercar for just $4,800
A 27-year-old car lover in Haikou, Hainan province recently revealed this baby at the 2015 Hainan International Automotive Industry Exhibition to much fanfare.
Chen Yinxi built the electric car over the course of half a year using only 30,000 yuan.
Chen has been into cars since he was little, and began purchasing motor magazines when he was in middle school.
He earned a high score on his college entrance exam, and when he enrolled at the Huanan Agricultural University, he decided to major in car engineering. After spending two years teaching himself car design at school, he was encouraged to drop out of college so that he could work at his family factory, which he might inherit from his father one day.
Still, he never gave up his favorite hobby, and his family has remained supportive through and through. Chen hustled to finish his latest car so that he could reveal it at the car show on July 10. He only managed to cover the outside so far, as there was no time to do the interior.
Turns out, his hot wheels aren’t that hot. The car can only travel at a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour and, of course, isn’t allowed on the road. His father, however, hopes that Chen might be able to make some money by leasing the flashy vehicle out for photo shoots.
