Chengmai will promote the development of six key healthcare industries as part of its 17-year plan (2013-2030), whose primary goals include optimizing tourism industrial infrastructure and fostering new areas for economic growth.

The six healthcare industries to be promoted include longevity-healthcare travel, health sports tours, “winter escape” destinations, ecological leisure tours, and low-carbon green travel.

Recognized as a “world longevity area” by the United Nations, as well as the “coffee hometown” of China, Chengmai county is known in Hainan for its clean air, pure water and selenium-rich agricultural products. Large sections of the county are covered by forest.
