Hainan’s Tourist Price Index (TPI) in April 2015 dropped 1.22% year-on-year, according to figures released recently by the Provincial Price Bureau.
 
The price indices of 3-star hotel accommodation, scenic spots and transportation registered a year-on-year decrease of 10.26%, 3.03% and 0.4%, respectively, while shopping, catering and entertainment increased by 4.3%, 1.76% and 0.89%, the figures showed.
 
The data collection mainly comes from 145 tourism-related enterprises covering 9 major tourist cities and counties in Hainan, including Sanya, Haikou, Danzhou, Qionghai, Wanning, Wuzhishan, Lingshui, Baoting and Ding’an.
 
The price index is aimed at bringing more transparency and reliability to estimating tourism pricing in Hainan and improving the tourism market system.
 
The tourist price index is currently released on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis at the website www.tourpi.org.
