To help boost the local tourism industry in Wanning City, construction on the tourism road linking Shimei Bay and Dahuajiao is underway and is expected to open to traffic at the end of this year.

The tourism-oriented road started construction in December 2012 with a total investment of 962 million yuan.

The tourism road, spanning 35.44 kilometers in length with a designated vehicle speed of 40km per hour, links up Shimei Bay, Nanyan Bay, Shenzhou Peninsula, Laoye Sea, Baoding Bay, Dahuajiao, as well as a number of popular tourist attractions along the way.

Upon its completion, the road will serve as a green corridor integrating tourism, sightseeing and recreation. A slow-traffic system will be built along the journey to provide a multiple-traffic-types model for bicycle tourists and RV camping sites to provide a convenient service for campers, cyclists, and motor-vehicle tourists alike.
