Short-distance tour packages to central and western Hainan have proven popular for the upcoming May Day holiday, according to local travel agencies.

 

Coastal areas of Hainan may be hectic, and sometimes commercially over-exploited, but in central Hainan, such as in Wuzhishan, tranquility reigns supreme as visitors are more often interested in this than man-made entertainment facilities along the coast, said a Haikou travel agent operator.

 

The central and western Hainan areas provide a better escape for those coming to Hainan for agro-cultural holidays, with its scenic mountain settings and health-enhancing hot springs.

 

The agro-culture tours in the Wuzhishan area highlight the local scenery, towns, hot springs, fruit plucking and local food tasting, said a local travel agent operator.

 

In response to the 3-day holiday, travel agents have developed one-day-tour business to these surrounding attractions, among which are the Rainforest Canyon Drift in Wuzhishan City and Jianfengling National Park in Ledong County.

 

Besides, some long-haul tours and overseas tours are becoming a hit. Popular destinations include Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
