The construction of the 2nd-phase project of the BFA Convention Center in Qionghai is going smoothly and will be finished and ready for service in 2015.

The 2-phase project, invested in by COSCO (China Ocean Shipping [Group] Company) with a cost of 850 million yuan, covers a construction area of 66,560 sqm, which includes a 55,060-sqm hotel, a 4,000-sqm office building and a 2,500-sqm press center.

According to the plans, the 2-phase project will bring 300 more rooms to the area with the aim of improving the tourist capacity of Qionghai.

BFA was established in Boao in February 2001 with the attendance of people from 25 Asian countries and Australia, including foreign heads of states, former heads of states, specialists and diplomats.

This year, the annual Boao Forum for Asia conference will be held from March 26-29 in Qionghai.
