Self-driven travel became one of the most popular ways to tour Hainan during the 2015 Chinese New Year holiday.

According to the statistics from the Chinese New Year holiday, self-driven tours and self-guided tours accounted for nearly 70% of the major travel forms. Most tourists from mainland China drove their own cars and took families or friends for tours to Hainan this year.

Traveling to the east parts of Hainan Province became the hottest travel route, which has the richest tourism resources for sightseeing.

The fever of the new traveling mode also catalyzed a business boom for car rental companies.

A general manager of a Hainan auto self-drive hiring company said their rental service was completely booked during the Spring Festival holiday.

"It’s a new way of traveling and we believe it’s going to be more and more popular in the coming years," he told the reporter.
