Sansha plans to develop new cruise tour routes to boost tourism
Sansha will develop a new cruise tour route and improve cruise services this year as part of its efforts to boost the tourism industry, according to Xiao Jie, the Mayor of Sansha City.
Xiao said the current cruise ship Coconut Princess sailed 40 times and carried nearly 6,000 tourists to Sansha last year.
However, the current cruise ship only has 200 beds, which can’t meet the needs of increasing tourist numbers.
This year, a tourism company will be founded there to boost the city’s maritime tourism industry. The city also wants to bring in new shipping routes to attract more visitors.
In order to protect the environment of the islands, tourists are currently asked to eat and spend the night on the ship.
Projects, including building roads and planting trees, have been accelerated to cater to the demands of an increasing population and more tourists.
