Tourists visiting Hainan will soon be able to buy more kinds of duty-free items, under measures announced on February 17th, 2015 by the Ministry of Finance.

Under a policy which will come into effect on March 20th, 17 more kinds of products, such as coffee products, health care goods, baby powder formula products, home health care equipment and air purifier products, will be included in the tax-free category, the statement said.

The updated scheme will also expand the limit quantities of 10 hot duty-free items such as perfumes, cosmetics, watches, clothing and leather products.

Hainan has opened two duty-free stores in Haitang Bay of Sanya and at the Meilan Airport of Haikou, the province's two largest cities. In 2014, the total sales revenue at the two shops had hit 4.33 billion yuan, customs data showed.
