Hainan received 47.89 million tourists from home and abroad in 2014, up 10.6% year on year.

At the same time, Hainan’s tourism revenue rose 13.2% with RMB 50.6 billion earned last year, according to the Hainan tourism authority.

In 2014, major cities and counties across the island took the opportunity to launch a series of promotional events at major tourist source markets in mainland China.

Meanwhile, a batch of new tourism products like the Sanya Qianguqing Park, Wanning Capital Outlets and Feng Xiaogang Movie-theme Town in Haikou, contributed to a rapid rise in local tourist reception levels and tourism revenue.
