Hainan becomes new member of Asian Cruise Fund
According to the Hainan Tourism Development Commission, Hainan and the Philippines have become the two new members to the Asian Cruise Fund as representatives from the four destinations (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Hainan and the Philippines) signed an official agreement at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on November 21st, 2014.
Mr. Zhu Hongwu, Deputy Director of the Hainan Provincial Tourism Development Commission said, “The rich resources, advantageous location and favorable policies have laid the foundation for the city’s cruise industry development. Nowadays, cruise travel is becoming a highlight of Hainan tourism. Through participating in the Asia Cruise Fund, we want to attract cruise lines to develop more itineraries featuring Hainan. This will not only enhance the tourism industry of Hainan, but also bring about a win-win situation for Hainan and our partners."
Hainan will become an official member of the Asia Cruise Fund in December 2014. Its participation is expected to further enhance the scale and value of marketing and promotional support provided by the fund.
Founded by the HK Tourism Board and the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in April this year, the Asia Cruise Fund aims to promote regional cooperation in the cruise tourism industry and offer financial support to the cruise companies to develop cruise products among port partners.
