According to the Hainan Statistics Bureau, the total revenue of Hainan’s tourism industry hit RMB 35.73 billion in the first 10 months of 2014, up 13.1% year on year.

The island received 31.59 million overnight visitors between January and October. In the month of October alone, the number of tourists from home and abroad to Hainan hit 3.58 million, showing year-on-year growth of 11.4%.

Statistics released showed that cities and counties in eastern Hainan have maintained their popularity as the number of tourist arrivals to these regions reached 26.20 million, accounting for 82.9% of the total figure.

The central and western parts of Hainan province enjoyed the highest year-on-year growth. Among them, Baoting ranked first with a year-on-year increase of 43.5%, followed by Qiongzhong with a year-on-year increase of 34.7%.
