Hainan sees short-term rental market rise in demand during winter season
The demand for short-term housing rentals have been on the rise during the winter season as more people from northern Chinese cities fly to Hainan to escape the cold.
Choosing a short-term private rental is becoming a popular option among senior citizen tourists who come to Hainan to spend their winter holiday here. Coastal areas such as Haikou, Sanya, and Qionghai have all seen demand rise sharply.
Meanwhile, the increasing demand is also driving up rent costs at a faster rate. The monthly price for a 40-sqm apartment in Linchun River of Sanya has increased to 2,300 yuan, a little more expensive than the price set at 2,000 yuan a year earlier.
In Haikou, apartments between 60-90 square meters in size are most favored among renters
