Hainan University seeks cooperation with Prince Edward Island University
A delegation from Prince Edward Island of Canada visited Hainan University on the morning of November 4. An informal discussion was held to exchange views on further enhancing educational cooperation. It is learned that Hainan University and Prince Edward Island University planned to conduct dual culture project for students, as such double degree and undergraduate-postgraduate study.
It is reported that the two universities established friendly relationship in 2007 and sent exchange students reciprocally since 2008. The cooperation contract was renewed in 2011, according to which the exchange for the two parties included sending teachers for teaching & research, sending students for exchange & study, exempting tuition fee, acknowledging credits, jointly holding seminars, lectures, trainings & academic conferences and exchanging research data. The cooperation in teachers and students exchange was fruitful. Up to October, 2014, Hainan University has sent 20 exchange students to Prince Edward Island University for study, four of whom are studying there.
On the discussion, Robert Giz (Governor of Prince Edward Island) and relevant leader of Prince Edward Island University introduced the development of local higher education as well as preliminary cooperation intention. The leader of Prince Edward Island University showed great interest in dual culture project for students and teacher training (such as 1+2+1 double degree and 3+1+1 undergraduate-postgraduate study) and intention for cooperation project in island study. The two parties plan further discussion, exchange and details of cooperation measures.
