Hainan promotes featured products at 11th China-ASEAN Exposition

11th China-ASEAN Exposition and China-ASEAN Business & Investment Summit were held on September 16 in Nanjing in Guangxi Province. Hainan organized a delegation to take part in the event and a promotion of Hainan featured products was held on the morning of September 17 in the main venue.

It is reported that Singapore was the country of honor of the exposition. In addition thirteen senior forums (such as Electronic Business Summit, Technology Transfer, etc.) will be held concerning the subject of Jointly Build 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. 25 enterprises from Hainan Province took part in the event and fourteen enterprises have reserved booths for exhibit arrangement, including Hainan Green Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd., Coconut Palm Group and Haikou Qilou Old Street Culture Communication Co., Ltd., all of which will promote agricultural irrigation facilities and featured tropical fruits in Hainan with the help of the exposition.

According to relevant reports, ASEAN is the main trade partner of Hainan and the region with fastest development of foreign trade for Hainan Province. The total volume of trade to ASEAN was $2,738,000,000 in 2013, covering 18.3% of foreign trade volume of Hainan and increasing 62.3% compared with that in the same period in last year. Viet Nam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore (all of which are ASEAN countries) ranked the top five in foreign trade volume with Hainan.

The statistics shows that up to 2013, ASEAN countries have invested in Hainan Province to establish 820 enterprises in total, and the contract amount of foreign investment was $4,059,000,000 in accumulation and the actual investment was $2,703,000,000. The main fields of investment included forest planting, papermaking, wine making, feed processing, printing, real estate and hotel operation.

Many ASEAN countries come to Hainan to seek business opportunities; while many local enterprises in Hainan Province increase investment in ASEAN region in recent years. Hainan Airlines, Hainan State Farms, Hainan Jinlu Farm Machinery and Hainan Yedao Group cooperated with ASEAN in 33 projects (including electromechanical industry, agricultural planting, farm product processing and logistics) with total investment volume of $1,210,000,000.
