Laocheng Economic Development Zone listed as low-carbon industrial park

According to the notification released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the National Development and Reform Commission, Laocheng Economic Development Zone was in the list of first batch of pilot national low carbon industrial parks, becoming the only one in Hainan Province.

The purpose of pilot construction of national low carbon industrial parks is to implement the Notification of Work Program of Controlling Greenhouse Gas Emission during 12th Five-Year Plan of the State Council and Action Plan for Fighting Climate Change in Industrial Circles (2012-2020) and to promote the low carbon transformation of industry.

Laocheng Economic Development Zone is the only one with complete systems in Hainan Province. Its leading industry includes electronic information manufacturing industry, software & information service industry, Hainan featured agricultural byproduct processing, new materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, energy, etc.. In recent years, Laocheng Economic Development Zone has been paying high attention to low carbon development of industry, doing a lot of work and achieving significant results in terms of improving use efficiency of energy and resources, developing clean energy, promoting transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing industry and pushing forward the core low carbon technology research of enterprises.

In the future, Laocheng Economic Development Zone will take the opportunity of constructing the pilot national low carbon industrial park to carefully develop and implement the pilot work program, push the low carbon production, pay key attention to construct a series of industrial chains (for new materials, building materials, coal power, clean energy and featured agricultural byproduct deep processing) and gradually make the development zone be a self-independent innovative, resource-saving and environment friendly one.
