On November 20th, a Haikou-Kuala Lumpur flight landed at Haikou Meilan International Airport, marking the expansion of the airport’s network and connecting the airport to the international transport market.
 
The flight route will be operated by Firefly Airline of Malaysia, and regular flights are scheduled to commence on December 30, 2012. There will be one flight every 5 days on a Boeing 737-400.
 
With the start of winter flights schedule, the passenger traffic at Haikou Meilan International Airport is surging greatly. The airport has therefore increased its international air routes to meet the demand. The airport has recently increased the number of flights to international destinations such as Singapore and Bangkok
