The 2014 China National International Chess Championship kicked off on August 11th in Wanning, Hainan.
 
This is the biggest international chess tournament held in Wanning and nearly 200 chess players representing 30 teams from 20 provinces and regions took part in the championship which is organized in two categories of individual events and group events.
 
In recent years, Hainan has organized a series of international chess tournaments in Sanya, Danzhou and Haikou and the popularity of international chess has been widely spread among youth, adults and elders.
 
The tournament, which will last until August 22nd, provides a good opportunity for local chess players to improve their skills and prepare for upcoming regional and international competitions.
