Hainan’s provincial tourism authority reported today that Typhoon Rammasun caused a total of 1.38 billion yuan in tourism business losses.

At present, the areas hit by the typhoon in northern Hainan have not been able to resume normal operations in receiving tourists, as the storm destroyed many trees and damaged a number of facilities at the scenic spots and hotels.

According to a preliminary report, Haikou’s tourism sector has seen a loss of at least 300 million yuan and Wenchang and Chengmai’s tourism sectors have reported at least 890 million yuan and 54 million yuan in losses, respectively.

Bringing fierce winds and torrential rain, Rammasun has so far caused 10.8 billion yuan in direct economic losses to Hainan.
