The one-day China International Energy Forum kicked off in Haikou yesterday. More than 150 industry experts, including energy specialists, scholars from home and abroad, enterprise elites and government officials attended the meeting.

The forum focused on the two themes of the development, which are new energy practices and sustainable development, and low-carbon economic and green development.

The forum is sponsored by the Counselors’ Office of the State Council, the Chinese National Committee for World Petroleum Council and the Chinese National Committee for World Energy Council, and was organized by the Haikou Municipal Government, with this year’s theme ‘Clean Energy, Green Development’.

At the opening ceremony, Fang Ning, Deputy Director of the Counselors’ Office of the State Council, said that the central government has always attached great importance to energy conservation and emission reduction, and hopes to use renewable energy in the future to support the green development of society and the economy.

Delegates agreed that governments around the world should be investing in the development of new energy technology, and attempting to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with each other.
