The women’s federation of south China’s Hainan Province opened a library during a ceremony at the Yongfa Central Elementary School in Chengmai County on the morning of June 18, 2014, aiming to improve local ‘left-behind’ children’s reading abilities.
 
Vice-President of Hainan Women’s Federation Li Youwu said the staff of the local women’s federations and village officials should do more to improve the lives of ‘left-behind’ children whose parents had departed to work for better wages in the big cities..
 
Li also inspected the library building and donated various items and money to the local children during visits.
 
The Hainan Women’s Federation has carried out a string of charity campaigns this year to help the area’s ‘left-behind’ children, donating desks and chairs to more than 1,600 needy students as well as calling on all of society to improve the children’s living and studying conditions.
