The 2014 Cross-Strait Taipei Travel Fair concluded recently in Taipei. At the 4-day travel expo, the Hainan Tourism Promotion delegation in Taipei attracted widespread attention from Taiwan tourism-related industries.

According to Lu Zhiyuan, the Director of the Hainan Tourism Development Commission, Hainan has become one of the major inbound tourist sources for Hainan, thanks to deepened tourism cooperation between Hainan and Taiwan.

The number of tourists from Taiwan to Hainan has been increasing, and Sanya is often listed as their main destination. During the period of January to September in 2013, the number of Taiwan passengers hit 22,800, up 15.62 percent year-on-year.

The two sides exchanged views during the fair and reached a common understanding on many tourism issues. During the 4-day event, Hainan launched a variety of attractive promotion measures to further develop the Taiwanese tourism market.
