Hainan’s foreign trade up 4.5% to RMB31.24 billion in Jan-Apr 2014
Hainan province saw its foreign trade value for the first four months of this year increase 4.5% year on year to RMB 31.24 billion, according to statistics released by the Haikou Customs.
From Jan to Apr, the province saw its export value decrease 10.5% year on year to RMB 7.89 billion, and its import value amounted to RMB 23.35 billion, reflecting a year on year increase of 10.8%.
The province's foreign trade under general trade hit RMB 19.59 billion in the first four months, up 5.8% year on year. However, its foreign trade under processing trade declined 4.3% year on year to RMB 9.15 billion in the period.
In the first four months, Hainan's export to Hong Kong plunged 57.4% from a year earlier to RMB 1.21 billion. The province’s export to the E.U. and the U.S. was down 41.9% and 11% year on year to RMB 584 million and RMB 729 million, respectively.
Hainan’s export of agricultural products totaled RMB 1.23 billion in the four-month period, up 19.8% year on year, and its export of refined oil grew 14.2% to RMB 3.79 billion.
