A man surnamed Yuan from Qingdao reported to a journalist at Chuntian Metropolis Daily that his Samoyed Husky shipped by air was found spitting blood and later died in the cargo bay during his flight from Haikou to Qingdao.
 
Yuan went on a vacation with his family from Qingdao to Hainan. His six-year-old Samoyed Husky, named Yuan Zhanhe, was also sent by air to Hainan. Friday morning, Yuan departed from Meikou airport in Hainan to Qingdao on the return flight HU7841.
 
Soon after the plane arrived at Wuhan for a transfer, Yuan was told by a flight attendant that the dog was spitting blood and had died.
 
According to a preliminary investigation, an airline manager explained that the operator didn’t do anything wrong when the dog was on board the plane. There was no surveillance footage from the cargo bay, but the data for the air pressure and oxygen was up to standard. The airline sent the dog’s corpse to Qingdao for further examination.
 
Meanwhile, the airline said that it would compensate the man slightly even if it was not responsible for the dog’s death.
 
A lawyer from Hubei suggested that pet owners should be careful when sending animals by air as it’s very risky.
