According to the Haikou Forestry Department, the construction of urban park belts from the west to the east of Haikou downtown area have been recently sped up.

Four wetland parks and forest parks will be built in Yongzhuang, Shapo, Baishuitang, Yulongquan, covering a total area of about 55 square meters.

The sites for the Yongzhuang Reservoir Forest Park, Shapo Reservoir Forest Park, Baishuitang Wetland Park, and Yulongquan Forest Park have been confirmed. The four parks will form a complete belt around Haikou with several crosswise and lengthwise roads.

The Baishuitang Wetland Park is located at the juncture of the East Highway and the Ring Expressway, covering an area of 744,800 square meters. It has recently applied for the provincial forest park.

The Baishuitang Wetland Park will be divided into three parts including a wetland conservation zone, wetland ecological leisure tourist zone, and wetland style & features exhibition zone.

As the highest-valued ecological system in the world, the wetland ecological system plays a key role in protecting the diversity of species, balancing the ecology and preventing floods.
