Hainan issues new plan to speed up service sector development
The service sector in Hainan is expected to undergo rapid development as a Work Plan on the on Accelerating the Development of Service Industry was recently unveiled.
Under the plan, the government will make a bigger effort to raise the sector's economic value, lift the sector's development level and strengthen the sector's role in generating more jobs. The added value to the service industry is expected to account for 60% of island’s GDP by 2020.
Sectors that help in building Sanya into an international tourism destination will be greatly promoted, including leisure tourism, trade exhibitions, medical and healthcare services and finance.
The plan also clarified that Haikou is to be built into a modern service industry area. Specific sectors that need to speed up development include finance, modern logistics, information services, cultural creativity, meeting and conferences, education training and headquarters economy.
Furthermore, the provincial government has underscored 7 key functional zones including headquarter economy, international health care, information services, creative industry, modern logistics and culture and sports.
