Hainan received 2,607,600 tourists at home and abroad during the week-long Chinese New Year holiday, up 36.98% than that of the previous year, the provincial tourism bureau and statistics bureau announced on February 7, 2014.

According to statistics, the island’s comprehensive tourism income during this period reached 7.57 billion yuan, increasing 33.96% than that of the previous year.

About 1.21 million tourists booked one-day tours, up 53.71%, and around 610,000 tourists enjoyed tours to rural villages, achieving tourism revenues of 624 million yuan and 314 million yuan, respectively.

In the past week, the offshore duty-free stores in Sanya and Haikou received more than 56,000 customers and saw total sales of 224 million yuan
