Hainan women’s delegation visits Taiwan to deepen cooperation
To promote cross-strait exchange and cooperation, a women's culture exchange delegation in south China's Hainan Province, headed by President of Hainan Women's Federation Liu Jin, visited southeast China's Taiwan from January 17 to 24, along with the Tainan Women Association, Hainan Community Association and other women’s organizations of Taiwan.
They made a discussion on participation of women in the construction of economy and culture, social services, safeguarding legal rights and interests of women and children, construction of harmonious family and role of women's organizations. They also exchanged ideas on domestic services, volunteering and domestic violence shelters. Through friendly negotiations, the two sides built a regular exchange mechanism, further deepening cooperation.
The delegation also visited enterprises run by female entrepreneurs or couples, which highlights the perspective and ability of women. Taiwan female entrepreneurs expressed their hope to strengthen the exchange, deepen their understanding, and cooperate with enterprises in Hainan Province.
Performances were given during the delegations' exchange with troupes of musicians and artists from Taiwan. "Women in Hainan have held up 'half the sky' in politics, economy, culture and social life. The mechanism on exchanges between women in Hainan and Taiwan has taken shape in recent years. I hope our visit can formalize pragmatic cooperation," said Liu Jin during the forum.
They also had an informal discussion with representatives from the Taiwan Journalist Association and Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science. Liu Jin also visited Hainan countrymen and women who were touring in Taiwan and sent her New Year wishes to them.
