South China's Hainan province saw its tourism revenue rise 13.0% year on year to RMB 42.86 billion in 2013, according to figures released by the Hainan Statistics Bureau.

 

The province's hotel occupancy rate was 56.03% in the year, down 2.3 percent year on year.

 

Hainan received 36.73 million overnight visitors last year, reflecting a growth of 10.6% year on year. 

 

The number of domestic visitors rose 11.1% year on year to 35.97 million in the year, and tourism revenue from these domestic visitors increased 14.4% to RMB 40.81 billion.

 

The number of inbound visitors declined 7.3% to 756,400, and they brought in revenue of US$331.19 million, 4.8% less than in the previous year.
