Hainan’s longevity area Wenchang is home to 160 centenarians
Recently, the Gerontological Society of China (GSC) recognized Wenchang City as Hainan's third longevity county after Chengmai County and Wanning City.
Located in the north of Hainan Island, Wenchang city is well known for its annual production of coconuts, with abundant sunshine, high negative oxygen ion concentration and rich tourism resources.
Zhao Baohua, the Vice Director of GSC said the eco environment, the rich history of the culture and the active social life of the people are all factors that make the city an ideal place for healthcare holiday.
Wenchang City now has 160 centenarians and the average life expectancy there is 81.85 year, according to the 6th National Population Census.
