The reconstructed section of the West-line Expressway has been open to traffic starting from 15:00 p.m. on 23rd October.

Being an important part of the Haikou-Yangpu 1-hour traffic route, the reconstructed section of the West-line Expressway will now be open to traffic from 23rd October at 3pm, according to the Hainan Provincial Traffic Police.

The reconstruction project of the West-line Expressway starts from the Bailian Interchange and ends at the Baimajin Interchange. The reconstructed section is a two-way four-lane road which is 24.5 meters in width and 100 kilometers in length.

The project began construction on 11th November, 2011, and the left lane of the road section was opened to traffic in June this year. On the 23rd October the traffic of this road section will be entirely back to normal.

With the completion of the project, traffic from Haikou to Yangpu will be shortened to one hour. It will help to improve the traffic and investment environments of cities and towns in the western regions, and contribute to the economic development of Yangpu.
