Hainan will publish its tourism price index, which is expected to play a significant role on guiding the island’s tourism industry development.

The data collection mainly comes from 145 tourism-related enterprises covering 9 major tourist cities and counties in Hainan including Sanya, Haikou Danzhou, Qionghai, Wanning, Wuzhishan, Lingshui, Baoting and Ding’an.

The price index is aimed at bringing more transparency and reliability to spotting tourism pricing out of Hainan and improving the tourism market system.

Currently, this project is in its trial operation period and the tourism prices index are released on a weekly, monthly as well as yearly basis at the website www.tourpi.org. Hainan will be a pilot city, of the first to monitor its regional tourism trends.
