Hainan’s foreign trade value reaches $14.98 billion in 2013, up by 4.6%
Hainan province saw its foreign trade value for last year hit a record high of US$14.98 billion, increasing 4.6% year on year, according to statistics released by Haikou customs.
Last year, the province saw its export value grow 18.2% year on year to US$3.71 billion, while its import value amounted to US$11.27 billion, reflecting a year on year increase of 0.8%.
The province's foreign trade enterprises generated US$10.94 billion in foreign trade value last year, accounting for 73% of the province's total, while its private enterprises realized US$3.74 billion in foreign trade value, up 46% year on year.
In 2013, Hainan's export to ASEAN surged 53.6% from a year earlier to US$920 million, while its export to Hong Kong rose 5.9% year on year to US$1.03 billion.
The export value of high-tech products and primary commodity rose 11% and 11.7% year on year to US$570 million and US$1.95 billion in 2013, respectively.
